On the first Monday of September every year, the United States pauses to honor its workers and the contributions they make to our nation’s prosperity.On September 5, 1882, more than 10,000 men and women paraded through the streets of Manhattan to celebrate the first Labor Day.New York’s Central Labor Union organized the day of celebration in honor of the workers who fought to secure higher wages, shorter hours, and better working conditions for laborers.
每年九月的第一个星期一，美国放假一天，以示对美国工人的敬意，感谢他们为国家繁荣做出的贡献。1882年9月5日，10,000多名男女走上曼哈顿街头游行，庆祝第一个美国劳动节。这一天，纽约中央工会组织了庆祝活动，以纪念那些致力于为劳动者争取更高的工资、更短的工作时间以及更好的工作条件的工人们。

美国工人为自己争取到的生活品质史无前例，改变了美国和世界。美国农民出口的粮食比世界上任何一个国家都多。美国还是世界上最大的精炼石油出口国。世界超过百分之四十的航天器及航空器和超过百分之十一的电子产品均为美国出口。

A key element in America’s economic success is the freedom that every American enjoys – the freedom to choose their work,the freedom to innovate and create new industries and revitalize old ones.
