英语文摘:CBS orders additional episodes to fill gap due to Sheen's rehab

BEIJING, Feb. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- CBS has ordered two additional episodes of "Rules of Engagement" to fill the possible gap of hit sitcom "Two and Half Men," which may go on an extended hiatus because of Charlie Sheen's rehab, according to media reports Tuesday.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that if "Two and a Half Men" is forced to shut down permanently, it could jeopardize as much as 250 million U.S. dollars in domestic syndication revenue for producer Warner Bros. Television and millions more in lost ad revenue for CBS, Reuters reports.

Despite CBS's concern, the troubled actor has been reported not even actually entering rehab but undergoing treatment from the comfort of his own home.

According to RadarOnline, the 45-year-old is refusing to enter rehab and remains holed up in his multi-million dollar Los Angeles mansion.

"Charlie doesn't think he needs help," a source says. "He is still up until all hours of the night and is refusing to get (help) at an outside facility, all while those close to him-- including his dad Martin, family, friends and his employers CBS-- work to convince him he needs to enter a facility."

Sheen's spokesman had only this to say about his client’s treatment: “In compliance with the national health privacy laws (HIPPA), no further information relating to Charlie Sheen’s health or his rehab experience will be released without his written permission. I can say that all of us who know Charlie care about him very much. We will support him in any we can in this journey, beginning by respecting his privacy.”

At this point, the final two new episodes are scheduled to air Feb. 7 and 14.
