TAIYUAN, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Five people were confirmed dead and three others missing in rain-triggered flash floods in north China's Shanxi Province, local authorities said Sunday.

Torrential rain started at around 3 p.m. on Sunday in Linxian County of Luliang City, triggering flash floods at a construction site, according to the county government.

Rescue work continues for the missing.
