英语文摘:China's sportsmen take 5 more gold medals at First Asian Martial Arts Games in Thailand

BANGKOK, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- China's athlete team won five more gold medals Saturday, which sent China to rank fourth at the First Asian Martial Arts Games.

    Thailand is hosting the First Asian Martial Arts Games starting from Aug. 1 to 9 as on Sunday evening a closing ceremony will be hosted.

    The five more gold medals included that from Chen Dan, who defeated Japan's Kobayashi Miki 3:2 in the women individual kumiteof 55 kilograms of the karate-do match.

    The wushu and kungfu players, who took four other gold medals for China, included: Zhang Hua defeated Indonesia's Mora Manalu 2:0 in the women's Sanshou 56 kilograms, Gao Jingjing beat the Philippines' Mariano Mariane 2:0 in the women's Sanshou 60 kilograms, Zhang Dajun defeated South Korea's Yu Hyeon seok 2:1 inthe men's Sanshou 60 kilograms, and Zhang Junyong defeated the Philippines' Eddiva Mark 2:0 in the men's Sanshou 65 kilograms.

    Meanwhile, Thailand ranked first with 21 gold medals, 17 silver medals and 16 bronze medals.

    The 21 gold medals came from the muay Thai, jujitsu, kickboxing, pencak silat, kurush, and taekwondo games.

    The silver and bronze medals were from the kurash, jujitsu, taekwondo, pencak silat, judo, karate-do, wushu and kungfu games, and kickboxing matches.

    Kazakhstan ranked second as the country had 15 gold, seven silver and 12 bronze medals from judo, kickboxing, kurash, taekwondo, karate-do, and muay Thai contests.

    The third place went to South Korea, with 10 gold, six silver and three bronze medals from the taekwondo, judo, karate-do, and wushu and kungfu competition.

    Japan ranked fifth with nine gold, two silver and three bronze medals from the judo, karate-do, and taekwondo games.

    Vietnam took the sixth place with seven gold, 11 silver and 21 bronze medals from kickboxing, pencak silat, taekwondo, wushu and kungfu, judo, karate-do, muay Thai, and kurash games.

    Indonesia ranked seven as the country's team took five gold, six silver and five bronze medals from the judo, pencak silat, karate-do, taekwondo, and wushu and kungfu matches.

    Uzbekistan ranked eight as totally the country's sportsmen took21 medals, including four gold, five silver and 12 bronze medals from the kurash, muay Thai, judo, jujitsu, kickboxing, taekwondo, kurash, pencak silat and karate-do matches.

    Chinese Taipei took the ninth place as the sportsmen won four gold, five silver, and 11 bronze medals from the karate-do, taekwondo, kurash, and judo games.

    India, which ranked tenth, won totally 33 medals, including three gold, seven silver and 23 bronze medals from the kickboxing, kurash, judo, jujitsu, kurash, and wushu and kungfu matches.

    Some 1,450 sportsmen from 40 countries participated in the First Asian Martial Arts Games.
