BERLIN, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- German Bundesliga record champion Bayern Munich defeated Romanian team Cluj 3-2 thanks to two own goals in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Uninspired Bayern Munich was punished within 28 minutes into first half. Cluj defender Cadu headed home a dead ball from close distance to stun the "Bavarians" with the opener. Cadu marked his second goal of the evening; on this occasion he marked the equalizer for Bayern through an own goal only four minutes later.

Even worse for Cluj, defender Cristian Panin netted the second own goal of the evening to put his team one down eight minutes before break.

Bayern took the undeserved 2-1 lead into the half while Cluj had to cope with two own goals.

Bayern striker Mario Gomez extended the lead to 3-1 at the 77th minute to seal the preliminary decision for the German record champions.

However, Cluj turned up and shortened the score at the 86th minute through midfielder Juan Culio to mark the final 2-3 score.

Bayern earned their third victory at the third match to defend top position of group E while Cluj occupies third position with only three points.

On Wednesday Champions League Dutch club Enschede host Bremen whereas Schalke meets Hapoel Tel Aviv.
