COPENHAGEN, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- World number one tennis player Caroline Wozniacki dismissed suggestions Wednesday that she would get married in 2012.
"I think one has to wait a couple of years yet ... in any case," Wozniacki said when asked whether she would marry boyfriend Rory McIlroy next year, in comments cited by DR News, Denmark's public broadcaster.
Northern Irish golfer McIlroy, and Wozniacki from Denmark, confirmed they were a couple at the US Open earlier this year.
The news led British bookmakers to take bets on whether the two players would get married in 2012. But Wozniacki's comment could now put a stop to the speculation.
Wozniacki, 21, has never won a Grand Slam tournament, but still ended 2011 as the world's top-ranked tennis player following the WTA championship in Istanbul.
McIlroy, 22, won the US Open in June, his first major, and is ranked second in the Official World Golf Ranking as of November.
