NAIROBI, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's U20 women football team on Friday left for Lesotho for the next round of the U20 World Cup qualifiers.

Coach Florence Adhiambo said they will be keen to safeguard their 2-0 goal aggregate advantage when they clash with Lesotho on Sunday in the second leg.

This is the first women team that Kenya is sending out to an international event, after they pulled out of the All Africa Games qualifiers in April.

"We believe in our strength. It will not be easy against Lesotho away, but we hold on to our principal and we will try to make it hard for them to score," Adhiambo said in Nairobi.

Adhiambo said they have had adequate training to help them finish the job on Sunday.

"Despite several challenges, we are confident the amount of work we have put in training is enough to help us achieve our objective. We must get past our opponents in the return match," she said.

"We already have two goals in the bag and we must do everything to ensure we maintain the same. Our training has mainly focused on defensive tactics," she added.

The 2012 Under-20 Women's World Cup will be held in Uzbekistan and a total of 16 teams will compete in the final stage of the tournament.

"Ultimately, our aim is to make it to the World Cup. We have been away from the international level for a long time, but this is now our time to show the country what we can do," Adhiambo said.
