BERLIN, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Monchengladbach sets top three under pressure in the German Bundesliga, owing faultless 3-0 against Stuttgart on Sunday to put them one point away from top position.
Also on the day, Mainz wrapped a 3-1 against Freiburg within the first half thanks to the brace by striker Eric Maxim Choupo Moting at the last matches of the 19th game day.
Monchengladbach sealed the second win at the second match of the second half of the campaign against Stuttgart that was incapable to threat Monchengladbachs well positioned defence. Thus Monchengladbach exploited a dead ball to open the scoring at the 31st minute through striker Mike Hanke who headed home.
The "Schwaben" failed to utilize their chances so that Mochengladbach came up with two goals at the last 10 minutes to make it 3-0 on the scoreboards.
Gladbach's young midfielder Marco Reus doubled the lead when he finished a fast break at the 81st minute and Igor de Camargo sealed the deal with the 3-0 at the 84th minute.
Both sides stay on their positions, Borussia Monchengladbach on 4th position with 39 points and Stuttgart on 10th position with 22 points.
At the other match on Sunday, Mainz overcame bottom team Freiburg within the first half to win 3-1 at home.
With only three minutes into the match Mainz striker Eric Maxim Choupo Moting utilized a pass into path left footed to mark the opener.
Freiburg defender ensured the first highlight for his side when he committed a foul play inside penalty to cause a penalty and a straight red card. The penalty was converted by midfielder Eugen Polanksi with six minutes into the match.
In the 17th minute Mainz striker Choupo Moting tripled the lead with his brace when he exploited a through ball.
Freiburg defender Pavel Krmas was only able to score the consolation goal at the 68th minute against restraind Mainz.
Mainz climbs with the 3-1 win from 15th to 12th position with 21 points while Freiburg slips from 17th to 18th position with 16 points.
