RIO DE JANEIRO, March 10 (Xinhua) -- On the second day of the New Brazilian Basketball league All-Star weekend, teams were divided between local Brazilians and a team comprised entirely of foreigners.
In a fun-spirited environment in the Sao Paulo city of Franca, the Brazilians won 125-102 on Saturday to revenge for last year's defeat.
Brasilian point guard Nezinho was the game's attraction, displaying innovative and creative maneuvers and skills, leading the Brazilians to victory.
Due to Brasilia's league rivalry with Franca, he was booed nearly every time he touched the ball. However, he considered the fans' sarcastic behavior as a sign of respect.
Although Shammell led the game with 21 points for the Foreigners, Brazilian Murilo was selected as the game's MVP with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Last year's MVP, foreigner Robert Day, was sidelined from the event due to a left knee injury. He only entered the match in the final minutes in order to shoot free-throws.
Fans were thrilled to be able to watch eight members of Brazil's national baskeball team play together. The eight All-Stars include Nezinho, Alex, Arthur, Guilherme Giovannoni, Caio Torres, Marcelinho Machado, Murilo and Vitor Benite.
The NBB All-Star weekend will end on Sunday in a showdown between the best 24 players in league as they go head-to-head in a battle for bragging rights.
