TEHRAN, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- An Iranian military commander announced on Sunday the production of an air defense radar system with a range of 3,000 km in radius, local satellite Press TV reported.

Brigadier General Ahmad Miqani, Commander of the Khatamolanbia Air Defense Base, said that with the production of the new radar battery, any flying object will be detected by low-altitude radar capability, the report said.

Earlier in the day, Miqani said the country will unveil a new generation of domestically developed long-range S-200 air defense missile system by next February.

The S-200 system is a very long range, medium-to-high altitude surface-to-air missile system designed to defend large areas from bomber attack or other strategic aircraft.
