WASHINGTON, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton on Sunday urged Egypt to take concrete steps for political, social and economic reforms as anti-government protests persisted for a sixth day across the Middle East country.

Clinton, in an interview with cnn, said that she hoped the uprising in Egypt could lead to a fair and free election.

She admitted that Egypt authorities were well behind in the concrete steps to take reforms.

When repeatedly asked if she thought Mubarak should leave or could survive, Clinton refused to say whether she supports the Egyptian leader who has been in power for 30 years.

Anti-government protesters massed in central Cairo on Sunday, bracing for a sixth day of demonstrations across Egypt.
