On Thursday, the show saw the record for the largest number of planes sold in one contract, as Malaysia's AirAsia, the largest budget airline in Asian-Pacific region, placed a firm order with Airbus for 200 A320neo aircraft.

It beat a previous order of 150 A320neo and 30 A320 from India's No.1 low-cost carrier IndiGo just one day earlier.

"Asian airline Orders dominated Paris Air Show," Bloomberg headlined an article focusing on the outstanding performance of the Asia market.

Thierry Mariani, French State Secretary for Transport also said in a recent interview with Xinhua that the transport market in Asia would be "exploding."

His view was shared by market analysts and businessmen alike, including Kenneth G. Yata, former Vice President in charge of China Business Development from Boeing.

"In terms of the next 20 years progression, Asia is clearly the growth market for commercial airplanes. Look at the economy of Asia, there is a fast growing. There will need airplanes to continue tourism, transportation, transferring goods. So clearly Asia-Pacific is the market growth," said Yata.

In the meantime, demand from South American region was also strong as two local leading airlines, namely LAN Airlines and AviancaTaca booked Wednesday a total of 53 A320neo aircraft from Airbus.
