Defending champion and world number two, Maria Sharapova, has beaten Li Na and reclaimed the Italian Open title.
After a tense rain break with the game evenly poised at 4-6, 6-4, 6-6, Sharapova finally clinched the see-saw match 7-5 in the third set tie-break.
Li Na and Sharapova met in last year's semi-final at the French Open, which Li won on the way to taking her first grand slam title. The Chinese player had advanced to this year's Italian final after Serena Williams pulled out of their semi final match, due to a back problem.
On the men's side, World number one Novak Djokovic will meet Rafael Nadal in the final after beating Roger Federer in straight sets.
