An award given to the China National Tobacco Corporation, the world's largest tobacco producer has sparked anger. The award in question recognized the company's contribution to ecological protection.
A call to withdraw the award was submitted by The Chinese Association on Tobacco Control on Wednesday. The opponent said the decision was made without considering the great harm of the tobacco industry to human health and the environment as well as global efforts on tobacco control. The 2 -year-old award was set up by China Green Foundation to honor companies who make outstanding contributions to the environment. 23 firms have been given the award.
