A German biotechnology company has developed a test to quickly diagnose the Zika virus.
The test only needs a drop of blood and a dose of a chemical reagent to check whether a patient has the virus. According to the researchers of Genekam Biotechnology AG, the reagent detects and reacts specifically with the Zika virus.
The researchers also say the test can calculate the Zika virus content in a patient’s blood and yield highly accurate results. The company developed the test after five years of extensive research.
