Flatwater World Cup opens in Hungary on June 5

(BEIJING, June 3) -- The annual Flatwater World Cup will begin in Szeged, Hungary, on June 5. It will last 3 days.

The start date was shifted to June 5 to meet the deadline set by the Beijing Olympics schedule, requiring that all canoes for the 2008 Olympics have to be shipped by air to Beijing before June 8.

This competition program includes 22 events: 8 for women and 14 for men. The 22 events cover all 12 events in the Olympic program.

Women: K1 200m; 500m; 1000m

K2 200m; 500m; 1000m

K4 500m; 1000m

Men: K1 200m; 500m, 1000m

K2 200m; 500m, 1000m
