名人教英文：乜姨物叔与「顺嫂」
叫人做阿叔阿婶，中外一样，意思有好有坏；有时系尊称，有时就不怀好意了。
英文最出名的uncle，首选uncle sam，代表美国政府，是个精壮白发蓄山羊胡子的老人，穿戴美国国旗的衣帽。二次大战时，美国政府用这个icon来设计征召入伍海报，传诵一时，袭用至今。
the new immigrant says he has not been well looked after by uncle sam. 这新移民说，美国政府并没把他照顾得很好。
英国名作家evelyn waugh的小说officers and gentlemen（《军官与绅士》）里头，36岁的主角因为比所属队伍中的其他人老，就不褒不贬地得了个uncle的绰号。
英文有句老话︰and bob's your uncle，且常加一句and fanny's your aunt，霎时一听会令人摸不着头脑，但不过是说︰there you are，「就系咁啦、咁就得嘞」的意思。譬如说，教人走路方向︰
turn left, and then left again, and bob's your uncle! 左转，再左转，就是了﹗
