RAMALLAH, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Palestinian counterpart Riyad Al-Maliki here on Wednesday to push forward bilateral ties.
Wang said this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of China-Palestine diplomatic relations. During Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's visit to China in May, Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward a four-point proposal for resolving the Palestinian issues and the two leaders reached important consensus on the future development of bilateral relations.
China-Palestine relations have been a model for friendly ties between China and Arab countries. China is willing to work with Palestine to fulfill the agreement reached between their leaders, deepen the traditional friendship and promote pragmatic cooperation, Wang said.
China will continue its firm support for Palestine's just cause of restoring legitimate national rights and contribute more actively and constructively to the peace process between Palestine and Israel, Wang said, adding that China will stand up for the legal rights of the Palestinians on the international stage such as the United Nations.
Wang said China will encourage its companies to invest in Palestine so as to benefit the Palestinian people, and the Chinese government will fulfil the plan to help train the Palestinians and strengthen cultural exchanges.
Al-Maliki said mutual trust has long been existing between the two sides. The Palestinians appreciate China's support for their endeavor to establish an independent Palestinian state.
After the meeting, Wang visited Palestinian foreign ministry's new building, which was funded by China.
