BEIJING, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Wang Qishan, head of the Communist Party of China (CPC)'s disciplinary organ, has called on Party committees at all levels to take the lead in improving the Party's work style, building a clean government and fighting corruption.

Wang, secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), made the remarks when meeting with leading officials in charge of CPC Central Committee and central government organs, centrally-administered enterprises and state-owned financial institutions.

He said CPC Central Committee and central government organs were at the center of China's governance while centrally-administered enterprises and state-owned financial institutions were the backbone of the country's socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics.

"Power comes along with responsibility, and responsibility must be shouldered in full," Wang said.

Party committees must take the lead in improving their work style, building a clean government and fighting corruption, he said, adding that secretaries of Party committees should be the first person responsible in these regards.

Failing to improve the Party's work style and build a clean government will be regarded as dereliction of duty, and those who fall short of shouldering their responsibilities and carrying out adequate oversight will be held accountable.

Wang urged CPC Central Committee and central government organs to strengthen Party building, and carry out their responsibilities in a practical manner, with special attention focused on conduct, discipline and the fight against corruption.

Efforts must also be made to exercise self-discipline within Party committees to keep rampant graft in check, and to contain political power within a "cage of regulations" via deepening reforms in a comprehensive manner, Wang said.

He called for forceful and decisive leadership of Party committees over disciplinary officials, adding that the disciplinary officials should focus their work on key issues of broad public concerns and on officials in key posts and those who might be promoted in the future.
