ASTANA, Kazakhstan, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- China hopes to boost law-enforcement and security cooperation with Kazakhstan in the fight against terrorism and narcotics, a visiting Chinese security official said Thursday.
During a meeting with Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov, Chinese State Councilor Guo Shengkun said China-Kazakhstan relations have deepened in recent years, with stronger political mutual trust and fruitful cooperation results in various areas.
China is willing to make concerted efforts with Kazakhstan to further enhance law-enforcement and security cooperation within the framework of both bilateral mechanisms and the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Guo said.
Guo expressed the hope that the two countries would continue to broaden pragmatic cooperation in anti-narcotics, border policing, oil and gas pipeline security, as well as the fight against terrorist forces like the East Turkistan Islamic Movement.
Massimov, for his part, highlighted Kazakhstan's commitment to jointly fighting the "three evil forces" of terrorism, separatism and extremism, adding his country will comprehensively deepen cooperation with China in economics and trade, energy, law-enforcement and security.
With advantageous geographic location, Kazakhstan fully supports and hopes to participate in China's initiative of building the Silk Road Economic Belt, he said.
