BEIJING, July 30 (Xinhua) -- The fall of former military leader Guo Boxiong has demonstrated Chinese leadership's determination in purging corruption, said a commentary to be carried Friday by the People's Daily, the flagship newspaper of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Guo, who formerly served as vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, was announced Thursday to be expelled from the CPC for taking bribes and may face prosecution by military prosecutors.

"One demon killed, all demons deterred," the article was quoted as saying.

The anti-corruption sword must be raised high to cut the bud of corruption and make the corrupt pay a price, it said.

There are no hiding places for corrupt forces within the party, or within the military. Anyone who violates Party discipline and law will be seriously punished and never be given mercy, according to the article.

The CPC's building of a clean party and the fight against corruption will always progress, the article said.

The central leadership has punished a number of major corrupt officials since late 2012.

The indulgences of corrupt officials disappoint 1.3 billion people and the great majority of Party members and officials who are disciplined and obedient to the Party, according to the piece.

Party authorities at all levels must reinforce education, management and supervision over CPC members and officials and exert the role of discipline and laws to form a system under which nobody dares to, wants to or is able to be corrupt, it read.
