BEIJING, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- China's Xinhua News Agency President Cai Mingzhao met in Beijing with his Agence France-Presse (AFP) counterpart Emmanuel Hoog Tuesday, exchanging views on transformation of news agencies in the Internet era and pledging deeper cooperation.
"As world renowned news organizations, Xinhua and AFP have maintained long-term cooperative relations of mutual benefit and mutual trust," Cai said.
The relations between the two agencies are an important part of bilateral relations between the two countries, he added.
Cai said Xinhua is making its development plan for the next five years in accordance with the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, which concluded last Thursday by adopting proposals on the 13th five-year plan for national economic and social development from 2016 to 2020.
He called on both agencies to enhance cooperation in a more practical way so as to jointly face the changes and reforms brought by digital new media in the Internet era.
Cai also encouraged the two agencies to increase objective reports on both countries, delivering positive information to both countries and the world, so as to advance the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations.
Calling the cooperation between AFP and Xinhua "a pioneer" in bilateral cooperation between two countries, Hoog said he hopes the two sides could further explore potential in the hope of promoting cooperation to a wider range and at a deeper level.
