BERLIN, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- After only five matches as Berlin coach, Michael Skibbe has to pack his bag for the disastrous performances by Hertha Berlin at Bundesliga and German Cup, the club announced on Sunday.
Skibbe and his co-trainer Edwin Boekamp have been released with immediate effect from their duties, after they just started their work last year, in December.
"After five defeats in a row and the 0-5 defeat in Stuttgart, we were forced to take this decision. We will first find an interim solution but we are also looking for a new coach at the same time," Berlin manager Michael Preetz said.
Newly promoted Berlin are getting ready for the relegation battle as they are just two points away from a relegation spot.
Also Berlin manager Michael Preetz gains the central stage due to his miserable coach choice. He had already fired already four coaches.
However, Michael Preetz denied to clear the way despite his insufficient performances as Hertha manger. "You know how I played football. I'm a fighter and I wont run away," added Preetz in the face of a demanded resignation.
