LONDON, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- World No. 1 Mark Selby crushed Mark Williams 6-1 to reach the semifinals of the Masters snooker tournament at Alexandra Palace here on Friday but Judd Trump was shocked 6-1 by Graeme Dott.
Selby, winner of the UK Championship last month, will vie for the final spot against Dott on Saturday. The other semifinal will be played between defending champion Neil Robertson and Shaun Murphy.
This is Trump's second first-round exit in one of the sport's most coveted events in the space of a month. He was also shocked in the UK Championship.
"Luckily for me, Judd did not show up today," Dott said. "You expect him to play well and sometimes when someone doesn't play well, it affects your game. I seemed to struggle too.
"It is unusual for Judd to play as bad as that, but I was happy for this match to be a tactical one."
