LONDON, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher announced Thursday that he will retire at the end of the season, concluding a distinguished one-club career.
The 35-year-old Carragher, labeled "Mr Liverpool" by the club, has played 723 times for the first team since making his debut in 1997, which made him the second on the all-time appearance list behind Ian Callaghan.
"It has been a privilege and an honor to represent this great club for as long as I have," Carragher said on Thursday. "And I am immensely proud to have done so."
