HAVANA, March 28 (Xinhua) -- A six-member team of Cuban boxers, led by world junior title holder Kevin Brown, travelled Thursday to Magadan, Russia, to compete in the 4th Yakov Antonovich Visotski Memorial for fighters under 19 years of age.
The event, to be held from April 2 to 8, will see Brown fight in the light welterweight division.
The rest of the Cuban squad includes flyweight Jorge Luis Cordero, who won a bronze medal in the previous edition of the event; super welterweight Yoandi Toirac, Cuba's national champion; and Luis Oliva, Cuba's second-placed fighter, the National Boxing Commission said.
Rounding out the team are Cuba's third-ranked welterweight Osnay Bencomo, who was recently promoted to middleweight, and cruiserweight Herich Ruiz.
The athletes are accompanied by trainers Julian Gonzalez and Rolando Garbey, and referee Alejandro Barrientos.
