RIO DE JANEIRO, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's football confederation (CBF) has set itself on a collision course with German giants Bayern Munich by demanding Dante and Luiz Gustavo report to national team training in Rio on Saturday.
The stance rules the pair out of Bayern's German Cup final against VfB Stuttgart on the same day.
Under FIFA rules, clubs must release players for international duty 14 days before the Confederations Cup, which begins on June 15.
"Bayern sent us a polite letter asking that the player be released (to play in the Cup final) and we politely responded that we are not making any exceptions," Brazil's technical director Carlos Alberto Parreira said during a press conference.
"The players are duty-bound to report. We're not picking a fight, it's a matter of obeying the rules."
Brazil will play England in an international friendly at Rio's revamped Maracana stadium on Sunday before meeting France in Porto Alegre a week later, their last match before the Confederations Cup.
Centre-back Dante and midfielder Luiz Gustavo have been key members of Bayern's quest for the 2013 treble, helping the team to success in the Bundesliga and Champions League.
Bayern officials were unavailable for comment on Wednesday night.
