BEIJING, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Guangzhou R&F tied 1-1 with Shanghai SIPG 1-1 at home after a clash sent a player of each side off in the 13th round of the Chinese Super League season on Sunday.
SIPG ranked second, while R&F fifth in the CSL standings before the game.
In the 29th minute, R&F's forward Eran Zahavi launched a 35-meter long shot, and Shanghai's goalkeeper Yan Junling caught the ball but accidentally had it slip into the net. In the 44th minute, Givanildo Vieira de Souza equalized for Shanghai at the assist of Oscar dos Santos Emboaba Junior, who was suspected of offside but was not ruled.
A clash occurred in the last minute of the first half, when Oscar deliberately kicked the ball onto two R&F players and thus was pushed down to the ground by R&F's Chen Zhizhao.
Players and coaches of both teams clashed in the field. When the situation was under control, home team's Li Tixiang and visiting team's Fu Huan were sent off.
The arrival of famous Italian coach Fabio Capello didn' t bring a victory to Jiangsu Suning. The runner-up in last season lost to Changchun Yatai 1-0 at home, still ending up second from the bottom in the standings.
"Birthday boy" Capello's wish to snatch a victory for his new team on his 71st birthday was in vain, due to an own goal by the team's Yang Boyu in the 16th minute. Later the team's two shots were denied by the pole. The away win brought Changchun three points, which is priceless for the team to temporarily avoid degradation.
